Why are my card payments failing with Tap & Chip reader?

When using the Tap & Chip reader, my card payments are failing to process.

• This is the 1st time using it 
• Under manage hardware 
  • Shopify show connected 
  • Bluetooth is enabled
  • WIFI / Internet connected 
• I am using an Android Phone 
• When I go to checkout it says Tap or Insert card

is there anything that I'm missing?
