Why does my POS system add leading zeros to bar codes?

Today is day 1 with Shopify POS.  Needed to move since Intuit POS is stopping their product.  When I imported my inventory, I removed the Leading Zeros from my Bar Codes.  My Bar Codes can be 3, 4 and 5 characters.  A bar code could be 123, 1234 or 12345.  It is listed like this in Shopify on the Bar Code field.  When I scan, however, with both the Scanner and Camera on the iPad, it adds a Leading Zero to bring the code to 5 characters.  For example, if I scan a bar code that shows 123, I get 00123.  If I scan 1234, I get 01234.  If I scan 12345, I get 12345.  I thought it was a scanner issue but it does the same with the iPad Camera.  Is there a way to remove the leading 0's?  Thank you

Resolved, we learned that while the Intuit label does not show leading 0's on the number, it actually creates them in the barcode.  We reimported the inventory, adding leading 0's to the barcode number and it now works.
