Why is automatic BOGO not available on POS yet?

I saw an old thread on here with a retired Shopify staff that gave an inadequate answer to this problem. It’s a couple years later, why can we still not apply BOGO deals automatically to POS?? Anyone with a pop up or retail store -does not- have time to manually apply BOGO at checkout. In the last thread from 2019, it said developers were looking at the issue... so why is it not fixed yet??

Hey @jewelersgarden,

This is now a gated feature based on your Shopify plan. I operated a chain of stores using Shopify POS and ran into this same problem.  With the original POS (POS classic) automatic discounts didn't work at all. Now with the new Shopify POS automatic discounts like BOGO are possible but require a POS Pro subscription. 

From the docs:

Optional: If you want to offer this discount for your retail locations, then you can check Also offer on Point of Sale (POS Pro locations only). Automatic discounts only apply to retail locations with a POS Pro subscription. If you have some locations with a POS Lite subscription, then the automatic discounts will not appear in their checkout.

Hi Matt, 

Thank you for your answer! I’m still a bit confused though, I was using my trial of POS Pro when the discount still wasn’t applying. Was that because it was a pop up event and not a physical retail location? If so, will that get fixed eventually as well?

It looks like you can verify the subscription level for each location as described here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/sell-in-person/getting-started/identify-your-pos-needs#manage-the...

It also looks like for each discount you need to enabled the discount for the POS locations:

"To offer this discount for your retail locations, check Also offer on Point of Sale (POS Pro locations only)."

It could have been your plan (but you think were on pro), maybe it was this checkbox 👆?

I have been on ShopifyPOS for a full year and this is definitely still not possible.... I just went back and confirmed to be sure, but no you can't do it regardless of what plan you're on...
