Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Why is my payouts taking days now. I use the Shopify card it use to be a couple hours max. Now it takes days to become available which is really messing with my business
Hi @Hope2
If you're noticing that your payouts are taking longer than usual, and it used to take just a few hours, there could be several reasons behind this delay. Payout processing times can vary, and sometimes delays happen due to specific issues or changes in the payment system.
One reason for the delay could be changes in the Shopify Payments processing times. It used to be that payouts were quick, but depending on your location or the payment gateway you use, Shopify may have made updates that now cause payouts to take a little longer. If your store has experienced a sudden increase in sales or transaction volume, Shopify might take extra time for verification checks, which can delay your payout.
Another possible reason is related to account verification. If you’ve recently updated your Shopify account information (like your business address, bank account details, or tax settings), Shopify might hold the payouts for additional verification. If there has been any suspicious activity flagged in your account, Shopify may also put your payouts on hold for security reasons, and this could take longer to resolve.
Banking delays can also be a factor. If you're requesting a payout around a weekend or public holiday, banks usually process payments only on business days, which can cause a delay until the next business day. Additionally, if there have been any chargebacks or payment disputes on your store, Shopify might delay payouts to ensure there's enough coverage for potential issues related to fraud or disputed transactions.
There could also be technical issues affecting Shopify's payout system. Sometimes, Shopify may experience glitches or system errors that could cause delays, so checking the Shopify status page for any ongoing issues might help clarify if that’s the case.
Lastly, issues related to your bank account details or the currency and location settings in your store could be contributing factors. Make sure your bank account details are correct and that there are no restrictions, and verify that your store's currency settings align with your payout preferences.
To resolve this, you should start by checking for any notifications in your Shopify admin dashboard, as Shopify will typically notify you of any problems. Double-check your bank account details to ensure they're accurate, and if the delay persists, you should contact Shopify support directly. They can investigate and provide specific reasons for the delay. You may also want to review your recent sales activity, as a sudden spike in sales could trigger additional verification checks.
If the delay continues for an extended period, Shopify support will be able to help clarify the issue and guide you through any necessary steps to resolve it.
