Accessing user's camera for the app

I am trying to create an app for a merchant that tries to switch on the camera after click of a button on the home page, but I realized that it won't be possible with an embedded app due to iframe constraints. So should I create a Standalone app instead of an Embedded app? If yes, how is a standalone app created, I can't find any source for creating a standalone app.
