API Question

Hi there, we are trying to build a feature on our site that displays Total Sold for each product. How do we get access to Shopify API's in order to display such data on our site (and so it updates in real time too when we continue to sell each product)?

Here's a good place to start --> https://shopify.dev/concepts/apps#types-of-apps. I'd imagine you'd be looking to create a private app, assuming it's a one-time deal with a specific Shopify shop (i.e. - not being resold/reused with other Shopify shop entities.
