Embedded vs Unembedded apps, tradeoffs

Hi folks, I’m considering redoing a lot of our app in an unembedded app to allow for it to be used more easily by other ecomm platforms, outside of Shopify. Has anyone deeply weighed the tradeoffs of building unembedded vs embedded apps? What are the main advantages to going embedded and being committed to Shopify only?
