How to use facebook sales channel with a headless site?

We are using gatsby with shopify to build a headless store. The public store is hosted with gatsbyjs hosting on a different domain. The client is using the facebook app to tag products on instagram. 

It looks like the facebook app is automatically configured with the domain in shopify (something.myshopify.com). Is there a way to configure the plugin to use the headless site for product validation? Any ideas how the app integration works internally so we might work around the limitation? 

I would really appreciate it if someone has anything to share about that.

We solved it by putting the shopify theme page online (no password protection) and implemented a redirect in the theme itself.

This is helpful for me as I'm working this situation now! How did you do the redirect in the theme? I think the Shopify settings has a redirect but doesn't let me redirect to different domain.
