Klarna Language at Checkout

I currently am unable to change the language of the Klarna checkout in my store. 

After a conversation with support, it seems this is the official name and default text of the gateway. As a result, I'm unable able to change this through the language editor.

I live in Norway, but my store is intended for the international market.

 

Is there any way of changing the language of the Klarna gateway? Does it support USD?

Klarna does offer many different languages for the payment methods that you can activate in your Shopify checkout.  The public payment methods available are based on the store's base address country, e.g for a Norwegian store the public Norwegian language Klarna payment methods are listed at: https://www.shopify.com/payment-gateways/norway

 

Klarna does also have private payment methods available in English that can be used by any store.  These require one additional step to install the payment method(s) for your store, and then you can activate the payment method(s) in your store (this step is the same as with public payment methods).  Klarna advisors could also supply the install URLs for private Klarna payment methods, but here are the install URLs for the Klarna payment methods matching your screen shot:

Hi @KristiAtKlarna ,

I have similar problem with Klarna in Finland. I have tried several times to have URLs for English payment methods. Obviously Finnish Klarna support says it is impossible to have them.. Can you help me with this one? Our Swedish customers would prefer to use Klarna.

Hi @PetroL ,

the English alternative payment method (gateway) install URLs are the same for any store not located in US, UK, CA, or AU (since for those countries, the English gateways are public based on store's country).  The store's account owner can install the Klarna English gateways with the following install URLs (also now I've included the remaining 3rd option for Pay Now):

Thank you for your reply. I added these to my shop and they look just like I wanted. But when the purchase from Sweden is directed to Klarna I get a message: "Option not available. Please choose a different payment method". It seems that purchases cannot be made outside Finland (I tried with Finnish address and could have made the purchase). Is this a problem with Shopify or with Klarna?

@KristiAtKlarna do you have toe same links available but than for SE language? My actual languages are set to Dutch (see screenshot 2). But I need the Swedish translations (see other screenshot 1).

Hi @maxkardol99 ,

Alternative payment methods (APM) that are public (like the Swedish Klarna Payment methods, e.g. Få först. Betala sen. Klarna) don't have an install URL available now since these are publicly available, but they are only available for stores with a base address in a country that is configured for that APM.  If your Shopify store address is Netherlands, you are only shown the APMs publicly available for the Netherlands.  

To activate APMs for Sweden, you could temporarily change your Shopify store address to Sweden, activate the desired APMs, and then change your store address back.  Activated gateways still stay active after an address change. 

Alternatively you could use the English Klarna Payments gateways, which provide the same functionality as the Swedish gateways. 

If these options can't work for you, you can contact Klarna Merchant Support (https://klarna.com/merchant-support) to request further support and please reference this thread.

The configuration for the Shopify APMs are based on country, which doesn't always match desired locale, as in this case.

New install is not required or recommended.  It is also not required to remove the old payment methods to activate new payment methods; both could co-exist (although Shopify may have a limit on total number of payment methods shown in checkout and it is not recommended to have duplicate payment methods on a store over time).   If you have previously placed orders with the existing payment method(s), please verify that order management (fulfillments/captures, cancels, refunds) is still working for previously placed orders after your updates, which you can confirm using the Klarna Merchant Portal.  Further details available at: https://x.klarnacdn.net/plugins/Klarna%20Payments%20on%20Shopify%20-%20Merchant%20Guide.pdf

Hi again @Pasi -

In order for the Swedish alternative payment methods (gateways) to be available for your store, your store's base country needs to be enabled for those APMs, which we can update to make it so, but we need to know your store's base country for that OR you could temporarily change your store's base country to Sweden, activate the then available Swedish payment methods, and change your store base country back to the original value if that is reasonable for you.

i have the same problem and your solution can solve it, but i need it in german language like "Klarna Rechnung", "Klarna Sofort" etc.

Have you also links to german versions?
