Product quantity not adjusted for the orders created via api

We are creating orders coming from external channels on Shopify by using the Orders Api. However the inventory levels don't get adjusted for the items that are in the orders we create. Is there some field/setting that we may be missing?

Note: We put the correct product id inside the order data and Shopify order details page shows the product links correctly.

Can I ask you to pass me an x-request-id from an API call that resulted in this behaviour? I'd like to take a look to see what might be happening here.
