Development discussions around Shopify APIs
Hi!
I am a software engineer that is fairly new to Shopify and I have an urgent issue that needs to be resolved. If anyone could assist me, I would be greatly appreciative.
My company is trying to configure a system which would allow wholesale reps to place orders on behalf of the customer accounts they work with. We are currently using the Sales Team app to handle the rep->customer relationships and for the most part, it fulfills the feature requirement. However, it fails at allowing reps to actually place orders. Instead, reps can create order drafts which get sent to their customers to order themselves. This is not sufficient for my company as our current website allows for reps to place the actual order with the account's payment info. I understand that Shopify is designed more so for draft invoices than our desired feature, but this is a something my team requires.
I have researched the Shopify API and see that there's a way to place an order but I fear that it would be a very heavy lift to recreate a whole sales team app just for this feature. Does anyone know of a workaround or similar issue that has been resolved?
My email is gavin@factorfiveskin.com , please reach out to me if you have any ideas.
Thank you,
Gavin
