Sales Channel App: How to simulate the front end in a dev environment?

I am writing a React.js script which I would like to attach to the front end via ScriptTag API. 

Does anyone have a good way of simulating the Shopify front end in a dev environment?

My first though is to write a dummy window object. Ideally there is something better though.
