We have recently found our website is redirecting using this type of url. 

https://mydomain.com/services/currency/update?currency=CNY&return_to=%2Fzh-cn

We are wondering if there is any documentation for this. Because seems like this API gives website more flexibility

Did you get clarity on what this url string comes from? Our site started appending this on clicks:
https://www.oursite.com/services/currency/update?currency=USD&country=US&return_to=%2Faccount%2Flogi...

but we dont use currency conversion.

This may be due to you adding a market to Shopify Markets and not enabling it. Make sure you delete all unused Markets. This fixed our same issue.
