Setting the price of a line item in the checkout

Hi 

We are building an app where the pricing is dynamic and we want to send the user to the checkout with the correct price applied. Sometimes this price will be lower than the actual product price and sometimes higher. We are not wanting to create an order but only a checkout link for the user to checkout and pay the correct pricing. 

Is it possible to specify the price of a line item using the checkout api or draft order api or other method? I see it is easy to discount down using a range of methods but I'm not sure how to handle an increase. 

If possible would like to avoid having to edit the price of the product itself, creating a new variant with specific pricing or adding another product to the cart to add the additional pricing.
