stateless marketing consent

I offer a Shopify integration with my solution. In my solution, I have three states for marketing consent. A contact can be subscribed, unsubscribed, and stateless. When I fetch the contact information from Shopify to my systems, Shopify offers two states, subscribed and null. Null seem considered unsubscribed. I'm looking for a way to find out if a user has stateless status, which means they haven't managed anything with their consent. For example, if the consent check box is not present I would consider the contact as stateless. Do you have any idea for a possible solution, for example, a parameter that is a priori hidden that can be exposed?
