Update locations API

I recently added a new fulfillment center to our locations and created an integration via a private app. This new fulfillment center should only pull orders with SKU's tagged to fulfill from that specific location, however, it is pulling all orders that flow through Shopify core. I spoke with someone from technical support and they explained: "ensure that your private connector app has adjusted the API so that it can identify the location, or else it will automatically pull all orders." How can I udjust the API to ensure that orders flow to the correct fulfillment location based on SKU's tagged for specific locations?
