Update of order status via API > No emails triggered to update customers

Hi all!

We are having an issue with our API-integration of our fulfillment service provider.
They are getting new orders via API, fulfill and update the status including tracking-id via API.
(FYI: This is it > https://community.xentral.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016719680-Shopify )

Unfortunately there is not any notification (email) being sent to our customers after the update from our fulfillment service provider.

I found an article describing the exact same issue for the MWS integration.
A support member pointed out that notifications get suppressed by the MWS integration.
Does this maybe apply to all API-integrations as well?

What would I need to do, to get the update emails being sent?
