Abandoned cart/checkout emails using Shopify Email App

Can I only send abandoned cart/checkout emails to customers who have agreed to marketing emails?

I want to send the reminders to all customers.

Shopify documentation (https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/promoting-marketing/create-marketing/migrate-abandoned-checkout) says:

"By default, the abandoned checkout automation is only sent to customers that are subscribed to email marketing. To send the email to all customers, you can edit the To: field of the email and select All customers."

My "To:" field is not editable. It shows this message over lock icon:

"Shopify Email will only send to customers subscribed to email marketing."

Hi Alan,

Consider using Shopify Flow instead of Email App.

Refer to this doc, it would helps to fit your needs.

I am using a workflow for an abandoned cart, the email app is used in the final step to create the email. Just wondering if it is possible to send the mail to all customers and not just the subscribed with this method?

Hi,

It's mentioned very clear in the link I attached in my comment


By default, the abandoned checkout automation is only sent to customers that are subscribed to email marketing. To send the email to all customers, you can edit the To: field of the email and select All customers.

 So don't worry, you can make it work as your expectation.

Exactly, I quoted this in my original message, but the "To:" field is not editable.

The Shopify Email app doesn't allow the sending of messages to unsubscribed customers. I thought maybe a checkout abandonment email would be an exception to this, but I suppose it is still an unsolicited email.

Hi Alan,

Are you creating the flow from a template or making it as a custom marketing automation?

In your case, you should choose the 2nd one, so that you can achieve your goal.
