Add link to Shopify App that will open a popup modal with data from an external source.

Hi,
I want to create an APP that will add a link to product detail page. On Clicking the link a popup modal will show with a form. And on submitting that form an external API is called. Response of that API to be populated in that modal.

Please guide how to achieve this functionality.

I would like to know how to do this as well.

I found coding on this forum for a pop-up (which works great). Now I need to make the image in the pop-up a link to an external source.
