Add Vendor to Order Confirmation Email and/or Order Summary

When the order form comes to the customer and our person denoted to receive order notifications, it would be extremely helpful to have the Vendor field appear along with the product image, product name, and price on each line in the order database and especially the email notification. Has anyone ever made this customization or do you have an idea of how to make it happen? I'm a tad nervous about messing with the notification templates and I'm not sure which one to modify or what changes to make.
