Adding an app or link to an app on your store

Adding an app or link to an app on your store

Hi guys,

I've got an app question that I don't seem to be able to find an answer for. It's not a shopify apps store app that I'm talking about.

I want to add on my store, a link to an app that is relevant to the product/niche I'm in. I would add both a link to the Google playstore and IOS store. Eventually I wish to create my own app but as a beginner this just isn't going to be happening for a while.

I think it would be better to be able to link customers to the app rather than telling them about it and them having to go search for it.

Any help with this one please? Is it possible to do?

Danny.

I can think of a few ways you might do this:

  1. Adding a product to your store that links to the Play/App Store, which I don't think is possible.
  2. Create a page on your store about the app, and embed links to play/ios. This is pretty easy:
    1. Add or edit a page in your online store.
    2. In the editor, type something like "The app is available for Android or Apple device."
    3. Highlight the Android text and click the link icon (it looks like 2 chain links).
    4. Copy the play store link and paste it as the URL, then hit Save.
    5. The page should now link to the play store. You can repeat the process for the Apple store.
  3. If you want it on your home page, it might depend on your theme how easy this is to do. If you click Online Store, then Theme, you can customize your home page.
    1. For "Rich Text" fields, you can usually find a chain link icon at the top that works similar to the page editor mentioned above.
    2. In a rare case, you might have to add actual HTML to get it to work. In the Debut theme, there's a "Custom Content" section you can add, then add a Custom HTML content section and paste something like <a href="play store url here">Android App</a> to manually link.
  4. One last example: If you wanted it in your navigation bar, you'd click Online Store, then navigation, then Main Menu (or your theme's equivalent), then add menu item, then type "Android App" as the title and paste the play store link.
  5. Ok, one last example :-P. If you wanted to link to it in a particular product, you could edit the product, and in the description use the link icon similar to the page editor.

Sorry, this response is pretty generic, I hope I'm understanding the question! If you need some help, a little more detail could make it easier to answer (eg where on your site do you want to link to it? What do you want it to look like, etc). You could probably get it to work as a link to each store with the standard ios/android store images as well.

Hi, thank you for the explanation. Could you specify, where actually I have to insert the code for your 3. solution. FYI: we are using theme "Dawn"

Thanks in advance.
