Hello!

Does anyone have a good suggestion or experience marketing their Shopify App by using affiliate marketing outside of Shopify?

Would appreciate any help.

Hey Alex, here are some ideas:

  • Do outreach to authority sites who rank well for Shopify related content, and have pages reviewing Shopify apps, doing roundups of top Shopify apps, etc, and ask them to include your app in their next review or roundup, for example. Many will require payment. Some may be willing to do so as an affiliate of yours, but that puts all the risk on them so it would be more rare.
  • Contact Shopify/ecom influencers on YouTube/Insta/TikTok and get them to review your app or do a "magic show" (meaning quickly showing the ease of use and the good result you get by using it, making it a no-brainer for merchants to install your app). You can pay them to do this or they may possibly be willing to promote as an affiliate.  Again, the risk is on them 100% if they do affiliate, as they could put in the effort but then make $0 if people don't buy your app.
  • Create your own videos instead of paying influencers to make content, and run them as YouTube ads, targeting placements on popular shopify related youtubers' channels.

I realize my suggestions aren't exactly generic "affiliate recruiting" but I believe they have the best potential to get you the results you're looking for, plus empower you to not feel dependent on getting affiliates, possibly.
