app Bridge: how to control whether app extensions open in a new tab?

I have a few types of app extensions in my embedded app.  Some insist on opening in a new browser tab, others insist on opening in the same tab.

I would like to control this behavior, for functionality and consistency.

• Bulk action links open in a new tab (so the back-breadcrumb is kind of meaningless).
• Admin links open in the same tab.

How can I control this?

Did you manage to find a solution? I am trying to implement a link that opens a new tab for an external URL, but it keeps opening inside the embedded app.
