App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
My Shopify app is getting rejected for the following reason:
"New concern: When encouraging a merchant to install additional apps or connect the app to another store, apps must use the standard install process initiated from the app listing."
My app allows users to connect to multiple stores.
The requirement that I'm failing in the documentation is this:
"Any connection that your app makes from its UI to either link to another shop or install other apps must go through the Shopify App Store listing first."
Here is the screencast I was sent which accompanied the rejection: https://shopify.click/22-09-5744-45664.webm
So what I understand is that you want me to direct users that are installing the app to the App Store Listing page.
The problem is that my Shopify App Store listing is only in preview as the app hasn't been approved yet.
So I can't send anyone to the App Store Listing page. And just to clarify, this is what I think Shopify means by "Shopify App Store Listing"
Is my understanding incorrect? Is there another app store listing page that I don't know about?
I have asked partner support directly 6 times for help and they say that someone from the partner support team will get back to me but no one does.
I have asked my review contact who rejected the app on clarity on the issue and they just put my app into draft again and referred me to documentation that doesn't address the issue.
I have read through all the documentation in the community posts and lots of people seem to have this problem but no one has a solution. You can see people with the same issue in all of these posts:
https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-apis-and-sdks/app-requires-minor-updates/td-p/1199702
It feels like this is a chicken and egg scenario.
You say that you require the installs to go through to App Store listing page before you can approve the app, but we don't have access to the App Store listing page because the app hasn't been approved yet.
I have been in this review process loop for 1 month now. Please help...

This is an accepted solution.
I found a solution to these issues.
Firstly installation flow.
The review wording says "You can't ask a user for their Shopify store URL". What they mean by this is that for installations to more than one store you can't ask for the store URL. For the first store, you can ask for the URL fine.
When connecting to the second store, your app must instead go to the Shopify app listing page.
So when:
Connecting 1st store: asking for their store URL is fine.
Connecting 2nd store, 3rd store 4th store.... then redirect to your App Store listing.
What is the URL of your app store listing? This is the confusing part.
You have to make an educated guess here because you don't actually have a URL yet as your store is still in review. So my app name is Pin Generator so I guessed that my app store URL was:
https://apps.shopify.com/pin-generator
I just looked at other app listings and saw hyphens where spaces should be and landed on this.
Don't use the app store listing preview URL that you have access to.
Hope this helps.

Hi brother , just remove the new authorization function of your app. Yes, remove the function directly.
What if I don't know my store's URL from the educated guess, and we have the ability to connect multiple stores?
I would say guess and check with partner support about your assumption.
