Hello! Wanted to ask for an app recommendation.

My boss wanted to restrict shipping to Russia on his store since he has another reseller there.

Would greatly appreciate your replies. Thanks!

I am pretty sure you can do this under the Shipping & Delivery setting by creating a Shipping profile and restricting it to certain locations. I hope I understood correctly and that's what your boss is asking.

Hey, @Ela_V_TSM

This can be done without an app actually. Whether you want to exclude a particular country from being shipped to, this can be done directly in your Shipping settings. From that page, you can exclude the country Russia from your shipping zone. Countries not included in Shipping zones will not have any applicable shipping rates associated with them. This means that if a customer from Russia attempts to checkout, the system will prevent it. You can learn more about setting up shipping zones here.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Thanks for the reply, Dirk!

Forgot to mention that when we tried removing the Russia shipping zone, it redirects to the Rest of the World option. Should I just create a new shipping zone and select the countries not included in other shipping zones manually?

Yes, you should only add the countries you are shipping to and exclude Rest of the World.

For e.g. let's say I have a store and we only ship to Canada, USA and Mexico.

There are two cases:

1. I select Canada, US & Mexico in the shipping zone

2. I select Canada & Rest of the World in the shipping zone

You can see the difference. #1 would only apply the rate to the selected zone while #2 will apply a rate to the selected zone and a different rate to all the remaining countries (including Mexico & US).

Hope that helps. 🙂

Yes, that's correct @Ela_V_TSM! You will only want to create shipping zones and include the countries that you plan to ship to. Because shipping can be a complicated process (with various shipping costs to different parts of the world) I typically suggest scaling back the number of places you ship to until you are comfortable with running your business and look to expand.
