App to create custom text on product thumbnails

Hey everyone. 

We are currently trying to see if an app exists that we can use to add customer text/mini banners to certain products thumbnails and was wondering if anyone may know where to start looking. 

Like the image below, we would like to have the ability to add text to mention something is on sale or any other custom information we may want to put on the image. 

We understand that adjusting the theme may result in something we could use, but as this will be somethign we want to keep changing and creating, we were hoping for something more simple.

If there’s nothing special, this can be customized using CSS. It will be a bit complex, but it can be done without needing an app.

Please let me know which theme you are using, where you’d like to add the text, and the URL of your store.
