App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hello, I'm looking for an app that will allow me to transfer inventory between two Shopify stores -- not two locations within the same store and not auto-sync of inventory between two stores. I do NOT want it to sync...I want to have inventory of the same items in two different stores and move quantities around between the two of them (so take some from one store and move it to another). Does anyone have an app that does this? I only seem sync apps and I know I can do a transfer in shopify, but only between locations in the same store. Thank you!
Hi, @Amandac19122.
Greetings, and thanks for posting.
It definitely sounds like you have done your research, as you mentioned both standard solutions: syncing apps, and location transfers.
Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer inventory between two Shopify stores besides adjusting these inventories manually, or with a CSV file. This would be considered adjusting the inventory, not transferring it.
That being said, can you provide more context into why you are needing this functionality, and why a store sync, or location transfer, would not suffice? This will allow us to consider more tailored approaches to your specific situation.
Thank you @Skye ! We have a Shopify Plus store that is D2C. We want to use a separate store with separate inventory for wholesale accounts and connect our B2B Shopify site to that new store so wholesalers can order through there directly. Previously wholesale inventory has come from our D2C store, but that is causing a lot of inventory issues as we have to move inventory to an "on hold" location for future wholesale ship dates and then back into our default fulfillment location when it's time to ship (and then sometimes it sells to D2C customers while the invoice is being paid). Our idea was to separate the two inventories in two different stores, and then move inventory back and forth if needed based on sales. We could use a CSV to do this...maybe as a transfer out and in through CSV just to keep a record? Or definitely open to any other suggestions that would allow us to separate the inventory on the backend but still move inventory back and forth when needed.
We have done multiple custom inventory integrations for Shopify merchants and we can do this via a custom app. We will provide you with an interface to handle the transfer of inventory between the two stores (rough screenshot below). You would just need to enter the value you want to transfer in to one of the stores and the app would perform adjustments to both the stores.
Please email us at support@comstack.co to discuss.
thanks
Anto
Thanks for all the great context! I can definitely see why using two stores would be beneficial. Just in case though, I did want to make you aware of the wholesale functionality we have for Plus merchants. I'm sure you have already been down this path but wanted to bring it to your attention just in case.
Additionally, if you decide to open an expansion store for wholesale, this will be included in your current plan at no extra charge.
Getting back to your inventory, using a CSV is the easiest way to do this. You can simply export your current inventory to CSV, make your adjustments, and re-import. You can do this for both stores working between the two CSVs to ensure everything is accurate!
Hello @Amandac19122,
Can you please give more details about the goal of this functionality? Then I can provide the most relevant solution for your case.
You can take a look at these apps:
- Matrixify helps you manage your entire Shopify store data. With it, you can import entire catalogs between your stores with a single Excel or CSV template, which saves you countless hours of transferring data manually.
- Syncio lets you connect your stores with real-time inventory and order synchronization across multiple Shopify stores. This is a fantastic PIM app for centralizing your order management in one dashboard. It also connects products from all your stores in real-time, so any updates will take effect immediately, reducing your chances of selling sold out items.

Glad to have found this post @Amandac19122 since this is a feature we have newly released within SKUSavvy. It will enable you to connect multiple separate Shopify stores, keeping inventory separate, but allowing you to transfer and update quantities across your locations and storefronts.
When you first connect a Shopify store it will pull in locations, products, inventory, and live customers/orders as they come in. From there you can transfer stock across to your other locations and have these movements updated on both stores.
