App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi Braintrust,
We are a party supplies store and we sell helium filled balloons to our customers.
We would also like to sell flat balloons(deflated) to our online customers.
At the moment, all our balloons are listed on the website as helium filled by default. The issue is that we only have one inventory which we can use to fulfil both inflated and deflated balloons. How do we set up the variants to give an option to customers to choose inflated or deflated balloons but both variants should be tracked from the same inventory? Has anyone faced similar problem before? We are happy to use third party apps assuming shopify won’t have an out of the box solution to this?
Thanks
Hi @Partyaffair,
The app Material Manager is able to do this. It allows for multiple Shopify variants to draw down from the same inventory of raw materials.
For your example you would enter balloons as a raw material within the app. Then you would link your Shopify variants of inflated and deflated balloons to that material.
When either balloon type is sold it will draw down the raw material inventory and update the Shopify inventory of any variant that uses that raw material.
Hi @Partyaffair,
The Easify Inventory Sync app can help you manage shared inventory effortlessly. It allows you to create an Inventory Group containing products that share the same stock, ensuring that any inventory change in one product automatically updates the others in the group.
The app is user-friendly and can be set up in just a few minutes, hope you give it a try 🤗!
If the price of inflated and deflated balloons is the same, there's a simple way and no need to create two variants at all.
You just need to add a dropdown select element which name is like inflated/deflated in the product detail page by using shopify custom metaobject.
The default selected option of the dropdown select element is "inflated".
If the customer wants to buy deflated, select the "deflated" option.
That' all.
