Barcode scanning app for adding products to store

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a Shopify app that will help me upload unique stock and products to my store.

TLDR:

Is there an app on the Shopify store that will allow me to scan a barcode, take a picture of a unique product to link to that barcode and link this to my Shopify store so I can fill in the rest of the product details?

Detail:

I've seen a lot of barcode apps that allow users to add/remove large quantities of regular stock, but I run a second hand product store, so all my items are unique.

I'd like an app that will let me:

1. Take a picture of a product

2. Fill in some basic details/identifiers

3. Scan a barcode and add it to the product

4. Save to my Shopify store so I can fill in the rest of the details later

If anyone knows an app that could work that would be great!

Thanks in advance

Hi @sassquach,

We have a custom app that has barcode scanning and barcode printing built in. Currently the app is setup to be used in custom order processing. However it can be customized to scan in new inventory. Since you’re receiving unique products you will need the app to create products allowing you to later complete. This saves you time in uploading the main product image, adding a SKU with initial inventory count. You can either purchase rolls of barcodes and the app would scan those or you can generate the barcodes through the app. Whichever you think works best.

I would require a budget of at least 4-8 hours to make those changes but in the long run it’s a fixed monthly cost with lifetime support whenever you need it.

You can take a look at our showcase https://achieveapplabs.com/#apps where we display our public/custom apps.

If you are interested please either fill out or contact form or send an email to hello@achieveapplabs.com.

Sincerely,

Are there any updates on this question?

I honestly expected this to be basic functionality for any modern e-commerce or POS platform.

Hi

Double check if you can get some of the functions you need direct through Shopify's mobile app.

We have our own mobile app that is designed for inventory management and uses phone camera for scanning or external hardware. Also, have the option to create new products and sync them to a connected store.

If you want to test it out just get in touch and and can the team to guide you on set up.

Tom

I have set up a trial account, and downloaded the app.

Can the app be used to scan barcodes in products not already on my store, and add them as new products?

(I tried this with a handful of products, and they weren’t recognized.)

Hey

I sent through an email. The guys will give you a hand in setting up so the correct data flows are switched on so you can create products through app and sync them to store.

Tom

I am looking for a similar feature.

I need an app that can scan new products arriving with multiple variants (like size). These products come with SKU's and barcodes already, which I'd like to be able to scan and add to a new product in shopify.

Is this possible?

Yes! Custom apps, we can help.

Our barcode scanning app can be tailored to your process.

Happy to discuss further.

This is what I want. For example, we sell books in our shop. Books already have barcodes. I thought I could just scan that barcode and add it to my products, but it seems like I have to print a barcode, then use that to add the product. I've got enough add-ons as is, I'm not looking to pay a monthly fee for something that feels like it should be a basic function for retail shops.

looking here too and have discovered...

nothing.

pointy, a thing that can scan your items like that and populate information, has an agreement with litepseed, clover and square.... but not shopify. sigh
