Bundle App for Fixed Bundles and Build Your Own

Bundle App for Fixed Bundles and Build Your Own

Hi

Would love any assistance with this ongoing issue that has me tearing my hair out.

I need an app that will allow both Fixed and Build Your Own Bundles. If I have to, I can use two apps in they work together, I have done this before but it's not my preferred solution.

We use a 3PL, so it has to be multi SKU. 3PL software is an app as a location, not a Shopify location.

Fixed bundles - this is really for our back end. App needs to report available bundles from the stock of the individual SKUs. Each bundle contains 3 pairs of 5 designs of socks, and sells for a fixed price. I don't want the customer to see any of the bundle info, it's just for inventory management.

Build your own - customer should be able to choose 15 items from our catalogue of 150+ Skus, as a fixed price bundle of individual SKUS. The app needs to check the available inventory at the time the stock is added to the bundle, not when the completed bundle is added to cart. Only needs to be single step, and they should be able to sort by size, or at the very least the size variant to show for all products. Once the bundle is in the cart as a product, the quantity of the bundle should not be able to be duplicated without checking inventory. Ideally the customer should be able to switch out items easily - it's OK if they are added as single SKUs.

I am OK if anyone can recommend a discount app for the BYO bundle, but it needs to show the discount in the cart not in a widget, and the fixed price needs to apply to every 15 items that are added to the cart. I've tested this method with Selly, and it works but is clunky as the discount doesn't show in the cart, only the widget. If I use a discount app, it has to be limited to a specific URL - I don't want all customers to get this discount.

I think I have trialled almost every bundle app out there, and I just can't get a solution.

Any help finding my unicorn would be appreciated. Thanks, Brooke.

Hey Brooke

As you probably worked out there are 2 types of bundle apps. The BYO are theme based ones where you usually create a custom product page and buyer selects items and a discount is applied to cart.

We have a backend driven bundle that may help you with your fixed bundles. I'm not 100% what you are after in terms of inventory but our users work with 3PL so I'll let you know the 2 features we offer:

1. Inventory Management

Bundleup lets you connect up products to correct SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level. This is just in the background so the user doesn't see what products are part of bundle. If a component becomes out of stock the bundle also goes out of stock.

2. Order Fulfilment

When you sell one of the bundles the master stock level won't reduce automatically. So you can either update it manually or what Bundleup can do is update the order post purchase by replacing the order line with the component SKUs as order lines which then reduces stock. This then feeds into point 1 above where it updates all linked products. The benefit of this is the component SKUs are sent to a 3PL rather than the virtual bundle SKU.

We also offer a bulk csv file upload option so it is quicker to map all your packs rather than doing them individually in admin.

Any questions please let me know.

Hi Tom

Thanks for your reply.

This could work for the fixed bundles, we do need option 2. However a fulfilment request is automatically sent to our 3PL just after our order. I've just looked at the app reviews. If Bundleup takes up to 20 minutes to update the virtual SKU to the individual SKUs, this means that the order would be sent to our 3PL as the bundle SKU, not the individual SKUs. Is that time delay still correct, or is this updating instantly now?

Hey Brooke

We can configure the schedule down to couple of minutes. The main thing to check is if you can set a delay in sending orders to your 3PL as if you need the order split into the components it needs to be processed first.

Another thing to note is how your current 3PL integration is configured as the original bundle line may also be imported. Shopify does not let you remove it entirely so it is left as unfulfilled. Some integrations still pick up this line and some will filter it out.

Thanks

Tom

Hi Brooke,

An order management system such as Orderbot can help with this. We can handle any kind of bundling scenario and accurately track inventory counts for each individual product so that there are no discrepancies.

I'd love to help you out!

Hi Brooke, if you're still searching for a solution, you can try our app, Simple Bundles.  You can create both Fixed and BYOBs with Simple Bundles. The discount is directly applied to the bundle product so the customer will see the discounted price directly at checkout.

While your customer is selecting products in the BYOB, they will also see which bundle option is in stock and which isn't (the option will be greyed out and isn't selectable).

Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help with the set up of your bundles. 😊

Hi there

We can't use Simple Bundles, as your app can't read our stock location which is managed by our 3PL.

I have been asked to be notified when this issue is resolved, as I love your app.

Thanks.

Brooke.
