App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi Guys
I need your brains.
I want a preorder app that works for a made-to-order apparel business. Unless there is another workaround.
This is what I am unsure of with regards to how much the apps can do:
-The process: a garment is made after it is ordered and paid for. The customer chooses which size they want.
-Now, before this happens, with regards to how I manage the inventory,
I have enough fabric to make a set number of garments. When I enter the stock available amounts, I don't want to have to assign the numbers to specific sizes (as the fabric can be made into any size). Because if I do that, I'll get the 'sold out' sign on the size which is inaccurate and can be off-putting.
So my question is, will an app have the option to enter a total number of units without having to assign to a size/variant?
Thanks : )

Hi @JFDW,
You're right, a standard inventory management system in Shopify might not be ideal for your made-to-order clothing business. While there isn't a perfect single app solution, here are a few Pre-Order Apps to consider:
These are just a few of the many pre-order apps available on Shopify. When choosing a pre-order app, it is important to consider your specific needs and requirements. Be sure to read the app reviews and explore the free trials before committing to a paid app.

hi @JFDW ,
Here how you can solve this problem. Fabrics comes in meter therefore you can enter the meter number you have for clothing. Quantity will be updated to all the product requires that cloth. Now you will enter the value of meter required for that product.
When order will take place place a custom APP will calculate the desired meter for that order and reduce the quantity of meter and updated inventory will be sync for all the related products.
Please refer the example
Stock you have 200 meter. APP will allow you to create group of product will share the quantity.
These all product will have the quantity 200.
The product will also have the meter required to made the cloth, ex 2meter is required for a Trouser.
When a order of trouser will take place quantity will be reduced with 2, new quantity will become 198 meter. Now custom APP will sync the updated inventory to all the group products.
We can build this custom APP for you.
Please refer to the below video of custom APP we build for similar problem.
Hi @gr_trading
