Can a Shopify app resort a category page based on external recommendations?

Hi guys,

I want to build a Shopify app that resorts a category page based on external personalized recommendations(like bestSeller but personalized).

When a user opens a category/Collection, before showing the products list(collection or category page) to the user, Is it possible for an app to call an external API to get a resorted products list, then shows the result of the API to the end user?
