Can Googlebots Sign Up as Customers on Shopify?

Hello! Me and my boyfriend are quite new to shopify, and are currently attempting to run a store. We noticed that under the customer tab of our dashboard, that there were a whole bunch of googlebots that signed up to be customers. Is this normal, or should they be deleted?

This is expected behavior and there are some steps in which you can take to prevent and reduce this. Merchants have experienced success in reducing fake customer account and spam emails by adding Googles reCaptcha to their site. That being said, the reCaptcha option above only protects the checkout of your store. I would recommend using the app Shop Protector here that will protect all your forms / signups from bots and help ensure only active customers are able to sign up.
