Can I build an app with the new Shopify Lite Plan?

Question from a non technical...
Is it possible to build app for the Shopify Starter plan (the new lite plan)?
If yes, what is allowed? Order data, product list etc etc?

Can't find this information anywhere!

Hi there @BarringtonK!

While we're not able to provide developer-level support or coding education here ourselves, I can let you know generally how the Starter plan would work in terms of app use.

As the Starter plan does not include an Online store as such, any apps intended for use with this plan would need to be unrelated to the Online store part of a Shopify account or admin.

The rest of the admin; products, orders, etc, would operate as normal, so if your app relates to anything in the backend (not including Online store functionality: themes, navigation) then it would be compatible for use with a Shopify store on the Starter plan.

That answers my question.

My team can build the app... just couldn't find anywhere any information on if it was possible and / or if the app would have any restrictions.

Everything we need to do is 'backend'... inventory management, order management etc. so all good 🙂
