Can I implement reverse bundling on my online store?

Hi All,

 

I’ve been searching for an app or other solution that will help me solve for what I would call “reverse bundling” on my Shopify Store. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find anything that would work. Turning to the community here to see if anyone might be familiar or have a solution on how to implement! Any help or suggestions are appreciated 🙏

 

Overview:

 

I sell one main SKU,  SKU “A.” SKU A is often ordered together with some smaller ticket accessory items, SKUs “B” and “C”. This happens on about 40% of all orders.

 

When a customer orders A+B+C I pay for the pick and pack of 3 items with my fulfillment provider. I can pre-bundle this combination into a new SKU called SKU ABC with my manufacturer and then send it to my fulfillment provider. SKU ABC would then only count as one pick cost from my fulfillment provider – saving me significantly on pick and pack costs. 

 

Note: I do not want to offer SKU ABC upfront to the customer because we have found it is an optimized selling experience to get the customer to purchase item A and then upsell them on B & C during the checkout or post purchase experience. 

 

Currently, I have only seen solutions that do the opposite, taking an ABC bundle and then breaking it down into the components to send to the warehouse (A+B+C). 

 

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this possible?

Hi @jmager 👋 , not really reverse bundling more like post purchase bundle building|optimization   /shrug.

To do this after an order is placed means order editing is required, so yes a third party app* is required to automate that.

*At this time shopify-flow does not have an action to remove items from orders. Though it can add items and there is a send-http-request action to issue api requests for advanced usage.

If you are on the premium version of Shopify, this can be solved via their new bundle feature. Otherwise, you will need to go a more custom route with API and custom code to solve your issue 

 

a) editing the order post purchase 
b) editing the order information sent to your warehouse via their API
