App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
How can I upload a Shopify app to Shopify itself without the need for a hosting platform? Could I use Shopify itself? Because I'm developing an app for my store and I don't need to make it available on the app store. I noticed in the documentation they mention fly.io and Heroku, but I don't want to use them. It doesn't make sense to pay for a hosting service when Shopify is already hosting my website, and the app is for the website itself. Is it possible to upload the app files directly to Shopify?
It is not possible to host the app with Shopify; I don't blame Shopify for not wanting to deal with that hassle.
No, Shopify doesn't host the app, but I would recommend Digital Ocean App Platform if you are using the Remix app. It's $5/mo, but unlike other solutions, you can scale for less. The other solutions go from $5/mo to $30/mo, etc. A Digital Ocean app goes from $5/mo to $10/mo, etc. Just link your repository and set the environment vars.
