Can the carrier service API access product metafields for shipping rate requests?

I'm wondering if you can tell me if the carrier service api has access to a product's metafields? For example, when sending a shipping rate request sent to a carrier service, in the items array can we access the product's metafields? (height, weight, etc...) is it possible ?

@Solomon_socieyfor example, I am in the process of creating a carrier service for myself using the documentation provided here: carrier services. I've encountered an issue with receiving the specific metafields I need through the callback URL. so when using an app, I can edit the checkout and obtain these fields ?, but they do not seem to come through the callback URL. Instead, are these fields provided at another point in the process?
