Can we create apps for custom payment methods?

Hiya,

As per the title - is there any news on being able to create Apps which provide a Payment Method Option?

We've had lots of enquiries for e.g. creating Integrations with Finance Companies, but no way without breaking the T&Cs to do it.

Previously this was via the Hosted Payment SDK https://shopify.dev/docs/hosted-payment-sdk but applications are closed with no news in 5 months..
