Can we flag authenticated transactions on Shopify using Check UI extension?

Hello,

This is Simon Kong.

We’re building an app that authenticates users before the payment made by using checkout ui extension.

What we’d like to do is to make a flag that indicates the payment transaction is authenticated with our app on shopify’s payment record.

Is there a way to leave the flag as a key value on Shopify other than our DB?

In addition, we’d like to know if using metafield data for the above situation is okay.
