Color filtering Dawn - disabling variants

Hi,

When filtering by color, I need to show only the products with the exact color, and remove any products that have other variants.

I’ve tried using different apps, but when I filter a specific color, for example “purple”, it’s showing me all product variants that have a purple product. Just not exclusively purple items.

Please help -

Do you want to show only products for the selected variant and hide other products. Am I getting this right?

Here's an example site I worked on to create image swatches, it gives images for only the selected variant and hide others.

Yes that’s exactly what I need. I tried different ways but without success.

I did this on dawn which is a free theme on Shopify. I did this on the trade theme as well and my code and steps will work pretty much on every free theme. 

There's two ways we can move forward here either I guide you through the steps or you can give me collaborator access to your store and I can do it for you. Asking since it does involve a few steps and if you are not someone who understands code then it's not worth it. But if you are someone who does I can just provide you with the steps and code as well. 

By the way you just need the filtering thing, right? To filter images shown as per the selected variant?
