Cookie & Consent App That Prevents User From Navigating Until Accepted

Based in the UK

I'm currently running 2 x Shopify sites which are both using a free app for cookie consent for GDPR compliance. This has served us well until recently when we were told that we would need to update our consent banners to a format that prevents the customer from navigating any further on the site until they have selected to either Accept or Decline cookies.

So essentially:

• Customer hits the site - No previous cookies stored
• Pop up appears asking customer to either accept or decline cookies
• Customer is unable to navigate anywhere on the site until they take action on the pop up by either accepting or declining Cookies
• Once the action has been taken on the pop-up, customer is free to navigate as normal

What recommendations do fellow Shopify users have for apps? Per the above, we are based in the UK and only deal in the UK so this is about compliance with GDPR practice as well as best practice for Google and search engines.
