Creating a dynamic section in Theme App Extension

I have an API that returns product_ids of similar products to what a customer has purchased before. Now I want to retrieve these ids via an API call and use them to render this section with products of the ids I would have received hence the section must have different products for different customers. Is there a way to do this in theme app extensions?.
