Customer Account / Dashboard App with messaging feature

Hi!

I am building a website on Shopify and looking for your recommendations. My website will offer a service where the customer uploads his video which is then analyzed and the feedback provided. 

 I am looking for a customer account dashboard app that will let me send individual messages to the customers or maybe upload a file with a response to the customer. Is there even an app like this? 

Just need some sort of solution that will allow me to contact the customer via website account rather than contacting him via email (seems unprofessional to me).

Based on your description, it sounds like a custom feature for your site. You can hire a developer to build such a custom app specifically for your store.

Just wondering when people sell digital products how do they deliver them to the customer? Is it via email? 

My product would be digital and I want to be able to deliver it to the customer in the most efficient and proffesional manner.

Hey @rory123,

This sounds like something you could accomplish using metafields to store a message or file for a customer, and using some Liquid code on the account page to display the metafield value.

This is not the primary function of our Customer Fields app, but we do have a guide for accomplishing something like this with Customer Fields. You may decide the app will work for you, or at least it might get you pointed in the right direction to come up with another solution.

Yes that actually sounds similar to what Im looking for. So this can only be achieved with pro plan?

That's correct @rory123, using metafields in the app does require being on our Pro plan.

Why not something like Shopify Inbox to manage the messaging: https://apps.shopify.com/inbox

It should be less complicated than metafields

Then to share files yes we agree metafields could be a good channel. The app in my signature can help you embed metafields or a whole form on the account page (Profile panel)
