Hi everyone Got a notice I needed to add this to my site for compliance.

Got it installed but it's missing the opt out button, like it shows on the app screen shots (see attached). Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

This is an accepted solution.

For anyone else having this issue, I think I may have found a solution (at least it worked for me).

After doing some digging, I realized I had not setup my store policies in my store settings. After setting them up, the opt-out link appeared.

I also received the email from Shopify but have not added the app for this reason and the overwhelming bad feedback the app is getting - I need to know it will work as described before I add it.

The policy statement implies I collect and sell customers data and by clicking the optout button Californian customers will not have their data sold.

I am based in the UK and have now stopped selling to California so that I do not have to display such a terrible statement as like most sellers on here I do not collect or sell customer information whatsoever and never will

According to the Shopify white paper on this, it looks like small shops (and mine is very small) probably don't need to do this.  I don't sell info, never have and never will, so for a small shop it's pointless overkill.  I'm not located in California and have few sales there.  It's also annoying to have stuff clutter the page.

I am a small online shop in Australia selling fish food. I don't sell outside of Australia, why would I need this app. SHopify says that it will be turned off as from 1 Nov. Does this mean my site will be affected?  I have installed the app but I don't see any forms or prompts. Where does one see this?

to the Fish food seller from Oz

I found this on your website

https://drpaquatics.com.au/pages/ccpa-opt-out?_pos=1&_sid=fde34b55e&_ss=r

your page seems to be missing the button a Calfifornian must click

In any event the wording in my opinion is offputting - even if I was from  Australia I would be alarmed at the thought that you might collect and sell my data - In my case I  installed the app and then realised the possible consequence - I amended my postal parameters to prevent buyers from California being able to buy from me and then I deleted the app and the offending page  - I dont know if thats enough but hopefully it is
