I sell customizable leather bags and have not found an app that can scan and recognize the different parts of the bag and allow customers to change the leather type, color and embroidery color. Does anyone have any ideas?

Are you only selling online or in-store?

Using product options and theme customization you can modify the product template for custom leather bags. Preferably a developer can help you with this.

The scanning part has me a bit confused, is that for inventory sake or something else? Please describe it a bit more.

Thanks for your reply. Let me give you some more info to work with. Here is the process, I have vendors who stock these bag(they are very pricy so I do not hold any inventory). Folks look on my shopify site and choose a bag they like. This bag is fully customizable. I can change the leather pattern or color. I can add fur as well. The stitch color is also customizable. I would want an app that can recognize the parts of the bag and create customizable sections out of them. I would prefill images of all the leather options for the customer to choose from. Does something like this exist? 

Another functionality which I think is simpler is a way for customers to begin with a fresh empty bag and allowing them to build their bag from scratch.

Hi Joseph,

It really depends on your supplier and how you're branding the product. If it's just the handbags that can be customized then the best converting product customizer that highlights the specific parts and accessories needs to be custom built. If your entire store is based on custom handbags then starting from a fresh empty bag is the way to go. 

Usually after the selecting the product, we create steps to build the handbag:

1) Choose color/material of the base

2) Select stitching

3) Select accessories 

4) Any embroidery

Instead of a "Customize" button, it should be built right into the product page. Having the shopper begin their customization without any clicking. Simply point and select, it makes it self-explanatory. Here's an example:

Depending on how you're building your brand using an app will not guarantee a match with your brand or give you the highest converting results.

This is great! Thanks for the examples. This is exactly what I am trying to do. The question I have is like this. I have over 1000 products can these apps automatically recognize the parts of the product or do I need to go in and manually select and create the different parts?

Creating a high-quality customizer for leather bags is definitely achievable with Kickflip! While there’s no app that can automatically scan and recognize parts of your bag, you can easily prepare your product images in Photoshop (or any photo editing software) to define the different customizable areas.

Here’s how to do it:

1.Cut out the different customizable sections of your bag (e.g., panels, straps, embroidery areas) as separate image layers in Photoshop.

2.Export these sections with transparency to use in Kickflip. This will allow customers to change leather type, colors, and embroidery options in real-time.

3.If you’re not familiar with Photoshop, any graphic artist or photo editing specialist on Fiverr can help with this step at a reasonable cost.

Once the images are ready, upload them to Kickflip and configure the options. You’ll be able to create a premium customization experience for your customers.
