Deploy shopify app to production without using heroku

Hey everybody. I am exploring the shopify app system and build a small app. I tried to intstall it on a proudction server manually w/a using heroku and find it to be quite unclear how todo, so that the integration works. Is there a documentation anywhere what needs to be changed / done to move an app from a local ngrok setup to a production setup other than heroku (self installed node or php, etc...)? Thanks a lot
