Do new versions of 3rd party POS UI Extensions automatically update on my device?

When a 3rd party developer releases a new version of their POS UI Extension, does it update automatically, or do I need to delete it from my smart grid and then re-add it?

does that mean as a Shopify App developer you need to notify your users to update their app or it won’t work?

Will POS UI extensions never update unless done manually?
