App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
I'm considering having a subdomain on top of my main domain.
However, I'm curious as to whether the Shopify plugins/apps I'm using on the main domain, can also be used on the subdomain?
Or would I have to pay for the same app twice for use?

This is an accepted solution.
If you have ONE myshopify store then all the apps installed on that ONE store are used on any domains/subdomains connected to that ONE store.
If you have multiple myshopify stores then each individual store has it's own individual set of app installations and billing that do not communicate with each other.
If this still isn't clear you really should seek out a web administrator for a consult to understand your domain situation and business structure.

Hi @ughy,
If you install an app on your store, the app should function on the site regardless of which domain the user is using to access your storefront. An installed app is added to your store and should not be assigned to a specific domain. If you had multiple stores to which your domains were attached, in that case then the app would need to be installed on each store (and paid for on each store).
Do you have multiple stores or are all of your domains attached to the same account? What app(s) were you looking to install?

Hello @Victor . I only have one domain in my account. Assuming my main website is called mywebsite.com, I'm looking to have a subdomain shop.mywebsite.com
I have apps like Smile.io, Advanced Product Descriptions, Instant FAQ & Help Center that I'd like to use on both sites. For instance, Smile.io is a rewards system, and I'd like customers to be able to spend and redeem points on both main and sub domains. Do you know if this would be possible?
If no, then does it mean that I would have to pay for the apps separately for main and sub domains? Then how would I manage both of them separately on the same account?
Sorry for the multiple questions, have been looking for an answer for a while now.

Hi @ughy,
Thank you for providing more details. Can you tell me if you're planning on having the shop.mywebsite.com subdomain attached to the same Shopify store as mywebsite.com, or would it be attached to another Shopify store or third-party website?
As @PaulNewton says, if the domains are on the same Shopify store then any apps you install will work regardless of which domain is being used to access the storefront. If the subdomain is featured on a separate Shopfy store, or a different hosting platform altogether, then any apps you have installed on the main store will not work on the other one by default.
Can you tell me a bit more about why you're looking to have multiple domains for your business? If I can better understand your desired setup I'll be able to offer more tailored advice.
