App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
I recently noticed that all my products had expired in Google Merchant Centre over the past week. When I went in to my Google App on my Shopify store I noticed that it was not correctly connected (even though my products had been listed on Google for years). When I was trying to connect through the Google App, my Google Merchant Centre sub-account was not listed as an option despite having admin privileges on all my GMC accounts. The reason we have sub-accounts set up in GMC is that we have two Shopify store selling into two different geographic areas and use a sub-domain as one of the store's urls (so need to have our domain verified across the two sub-accounts). Thanks for any insight.
Check when you connect that the email address you use for linking is correct.
If that does not work, then I think you have a technical bug, and I recommend contacting Shopify support.
Thanks Emmanuel,
Yes, email address is correct and have spoken to Google Technical team who verified that my sub-accounts are set up correctly. I am waiting for further response from Shopify support to get to the bottom of it.
Hello @KirkN,
I am Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.
It's possible that the issue with your Google Merchant Center sub-account not being listed as an option in the Google App on your Shopify store is related to permissions or settings in your Google account.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue.
1. Check your Google account permissions
Make sure that the Google account you're using to access Google Merchant Center has the necessary permissions to manage sub-accounts. You may need to double-check that you have been granted admin privileges on all sub-accounts, and that your user account is associated with the same email address that is listed as the primary owner of each sub-account.
2. Check your Google Merchant Center settings
Make sure that your sub-accounts are set up correctly in Google Merchant Center, and that the appropriate settings are configured for each sub-account. You may want to double-check that each sub-account has a unique Store Code, and that the correct countries and languages are selected for each sub-account.
3. Check your domain verification
Make sure that your domain verification is set up correctly across both sub-accounts, and that the correct domain is associated with each sub-account. You may want to double-check that the domain verification file is uploaded to the correct directory on your server, and that the domain verification status is set to "verified" in both sub-accounts.
4. Try using a different Google account
If you continue to experience issues with your current Google account, you may want to try using a different Google account to connect your Shopify store to Google Merchant Center. This may help you isolate the issue to a problem with your user account, rather than an issue with your sub-accounts or settings.
If none of this troubleshooting steps help, you may want to reach out to Google support for further assistance.
Gina
Thank you for the suggestions Gina,
I have spoken to Google Tech team and confirmed all is good from their end (email admin access, domains verified etc) yet still no sign of the accounts showing in the Google Channel app on Shopify. I am waiting to hear follow up from Shopify technical assistance as it appears to be a problem on the Shopify side.
Did you find a solution to this? I am running into the same issue.
What I found out (after much back and forth with the support teams) was that the Google Channel on Shopify looks directly at the email specified in the sub-account without referring to the permissions that Google Merchant Centre grants to admin users of the parent account. The solution for me was to add a different email address as the user of the sub-account (since Google Merchant Centre won't let you add the same email that you have as the admin of the parent account- it gives a message "account already has access..."). I was then able to change the email that I entered in the Google Channel app on Shopify to match that different sub-account user email and it then showed as an option to connect to. I hope this helps. After raising it with support, I was informed that they are working on a fix to this issue.
Now I am trying this solution. I wish it will work. Thank you
Even this solution didn't work for me.
After you add the new email address as a user to the sub account, you need to wait 10-15 minutes before reconnecting the email to the Google App in Shopify.
This worked for me, thank you!
Hey @KirkN Thanks so much for this information, it's been the first resolution i've seen online in my weeks of research. I've been back and forth with google support and shopify suppot and they both seem to just blame eachother for the issue and nobody can tell me how to fix it.
Can I ask, when you say add a different email address to the user of hte sub account. When I go to account access I've got 2 blocks. The first is users, which is empty, the 2nd is email contacts, which has my address in there as default as i'm an admin. Are you saying to add a "user" email (which doesnt allow using my same email as im already an admin) and then wait 15 minutes and it will show in shopify when logged in using that "user" email?
This worked for me!!! Amazing help.
Thank you so much for sharing this! It also worked for my sub accounts.
The only thing is I still have issues with connecting with GMC due to domain claim error. For context, we revamped our website and migrated to two new Shopify stores. We then transferred the URLs from the old stores to the new ones, but now GMC is saying that the domain have been claimed. I wonder if anyone else have had the same issue and know how to solve it?
I too am having this issue since I upgraded from normal merchant centre to the advanced merchant centre.
When I try to connect via google app it is showing no merchant centre accounts and only lets me create a new one
Thank you mate, that worked well for me! I had to have my colleague remove me from the account. She then only added me to the subaccount and suddenly the Merchant Center account was displayed in the Google & YouTube app.
Make sure the sub account has a different email address then the main account. Then you can see it / link it to that specific different email address.
The Google & You tube Shopify app only allows one Merchant Centre account installed at a time right?
I have created an Advanced Google Merchant centre account to have a subaccount for each domain I have. I have 8 subaccounts with different domains targeting different markets but they're useless if I can't get Shopify to feed into all of them. The Google app only allows one account.
For my clients I use https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds setup multiple feeds and to connect to multiple subaccounts.
