App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi all,
Am hoping for some help as I have seen a circa 40% in total visitors & sessions in Shopify since changing my cookie consent banner in order to implement Google consent mode V2. Our store had been using ultimate gdpr eu cookie bar and updated to pandectes last week, and since then have seen the decline.
I have spoken to pandectes who have checked installation of their app and confirmed everything is set up correctly and working, and Shopify can see no reason why this would affect, as total users/sessions are recorded before consent, so I am wondering if our old consent app was somehow duplicating visitors/sessions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
HI
I am glad you have said this as I was just about to, I have exactly the same thing and came on here to see if I could find out why.
Lisa
my total accepts/declines in Pandectes pretty much match my sessions so I am thinking it may have been an issue with my previous app duplicating but I cannot seem to find a way of checking and confirming this.
I have done some further digging and it seems that if you now click the x and not dismiss or accept then nothing is recorded. I have removed the x so that one has to be selected and will see if that makes a difference.
but the selection shouldn't make a difference to total sessions/users as this should be recorded before consent, this should just impact tracking downstream and things like geo location, gender etc (is my understanding). Would be interested to see if it makes a difference though!
Morning, it made a difference. Since removing the x option yesterday afternoon my traffic is looking much more normal.
So strange, but thank you, I will see if this impacts for me and then feedback to the app developers
Hi Lisajlb,
Have you analysed your increase in sessions? After removing the x option my traffic has lifted again but this seems to be mostly coming from 'unattributed' traffic in Shopify, and looking in GA a big lift in 'unassigned' that has a bounce rate near 100%, so potentially bots?
The issue I have is, if I keep the higher traffic it is LFL with last year but I now don't trust it's accurate, if I go with the lower traffic I feel it's more accurate but I now can't compare to last year data.
Hi. I have the same issue on 2 of my Shopify websites. Since I've installed Pandects, I've had a lot of unassigned traffic, most of it, to be honest. The X fix doesn't work for me.
